EFA tools have been around for a while. They require a specific reference for their spare parts.

The name on the plate may mean only half as much when it comes to the EFA saw or trimmer that everyone on a processing line may be familiar with. EFA equipment includes various stages of slaughter and meat processing, including splitting, cutting and finishing. That’s one reason why a spare parts request requires more than just the brand name.

So, where did EFA come from?

EFA is the meat processing machine brand of German company Schmid & Wezel. It was started in 1919 to manufacture tools for industrial use. It used its hands-on knowledge of hand-guided tools to process meats and launched a meat processing line in 1934 called EFA.

The name is rather unique. Heavy tools were attached to spring balancers to hang in reach and to be easily moved while working with them, as [Schmid & Wezel explains. It’s a minor detail that brings the brand’s story to the processing floor, where an operator needs to quickly man a large tool during a shift.

The range of equipment now includes slaughter, splitting, cutting and finishing today, all under the EFA banner. It also means that a request for an “EFA blade” could require a bit more work on the part of someone to determine what it is.

The details on the machine are important due to the following reasons:

The model number is used to indicate a supplier the machine to begin with. When equipment or components have changed over time, the serial number can be used to provide further information in the request. EFA customer requests the model and machine number when requesting documentation.

If you need to replace a saw blade, trimmer or other wear item, collect what you can:

The machine model and serial number. The model of the machine and serial number.
– Part number or order code (if applicable)
– A picture of the component and type plate of the machine.
– Required quantity
– Country of delivery

Don’t try to find all the details before asking. A manual page, drawing or even a prior invoice could be a helpful hint.

Why Carnitec is involved

Carnitec has deals on food-processing equipment and spare parts from Riga, Latvia. During an enquiry of EFA parts, our job is to look at machine details and assist in identifying the part requested, confirm the original part with the source and issue a quotation. After an order is confirmed, we do the coordination of delivery also.

This is very helpful if the machine plate or photo of the machine and part one wants to buy is not listed in an online catalogue, or if the buyer does not have a machine plate but has a photo and wants a part number. In the quotation, the shipping options, timing and costs for delivery to the destination are clarified.

If you are looking for an EFA part, send Carnitec the information that you have.

We can discuss this and let you know what else is required.
